If there is any type of fashion/celebrity event I get uber excited for, it's the Met Ball. Ugh, the glamor! The style! The class! How could you not be thrilled to look at Sarah Jessica Parker and see how she interpreted the night's theme? Maybe that's what gets me, the theme. I'm a total sucker for cute, cliche little parties where everything matches and everything has a place, which explains why I love certain gowns. I'm a pretty big rule breaker on normal days (I've been thinking of dying my hair pink!!!) but when it comes to this big event, I like taking things by the rule book. Yes, Lupita Nyong'o is absolutely fabulous, but Josephine Baker wouldn't have worn any of Charles James's gowns.. So I've collected a few of my favorite pictures from the night (I might be adding more so check back for any updates). Hopefully you think these dresses are as phenomenal as I do!
Hailee Steinfeld was totally channeling this couture Charles James gown. She looked absolutely stunning and age-appropriate like always. I love the blush pink lining and her champagne colored heels. An A+ in my book.
I think it's obvious where Oscar de la Renta looked for inspiration for this custom gown for the Queen of the Met.
This is kind of breaking my rule, but Nicole Richie looked amazing in Donna Karan Atelier. Oh my gosh the hair is my weakness! The way it works with the metallic, slinky dress, brilliant.
Claire Danes has always been a beauty to me, and in this Oscar de la Renta number, I'm speechless. Two of my favorite colors, and two of my favorite fabrics. I applaud you sir de la Renta on this one, for it is currently making me drool.
I have been obsessed with menswear lately, but not the menswear of today.. I mean old Victorian era menswear, with the long overcoats and even Edwardian menswear with the chic suits and anything that says "British man." That's the way to my heart, I'll tell you right now. Ashley (left) in vintage Chanel literally brought tears to my eyes. Tears. Real tears.
